We all know the centuries old debate on whether a human life is formed at conception, or the ole “its just a clump of cells until it’s this many months old” argument. Two sides of the spectrum, you’re either “pro-choice” or “pro-life”, and if you’re on one side of the spectrum you have disdain for the other side. Let’s look at what the Holy Scriptures say on the subject, as well as analyze the credibility of both arguments.
Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward -Psalm 127:3
There are hundreds of verses that support the fact that the unborn are alive, and why destroying that life is equivalent to murder. We will now analyze both arguments to see which has a stronger and more biblical case.
If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. – Exodus 21:22
Some of the main pro-choice arguments are “well its just a clump of cells” or “the fetus can’t live independently from the mothers womb”. Let’s look at argument #1, they say “it’s a clump of cells” while science would actually argue otherwise. The word fetus is a Latin term that means small baby. Also another thing to take note of is that when the sperm cell fertilizes the egg, that egg then receives its absolute entire genetic make-up. The Lord is the one who really makes the baby, as He’s the one who knits him/her together in the womb of the mother.
Argument #2 from pro-choicers is “the fetus can’t survive without the mother outside of the womb”. Well, up until the minimum age of 18 neither can a human being, does that mean we should kill children, maybe 4,5,6 years old?? Any human being with any logical sense would say “no, that’s murder”. It’s the same thing with the unborn child.
Scientifically a child at 8 weeks old has all his/her major organs functioning, they can feel pain, and they even will suck their thumbs. Back when Roe vs Wade was passed we didn’t have the type of technology that we do now. The fact that due to 3 dimensional sonograms we can see our children smile at us just proves to me that the human life inside that womb is indeed alive. I was born at 25 weeks premature, doctors said I wouldn’t survive and that nothing could be done, yet I’m sitting here writing this article.
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. – Jeremiah 1:5
We have even stooped to the level where in today’s society we admit that what we are killing is a human life. What I see in the world today is sickening, and all I will say is that we need to REPENT OR FACE GOD’S JUDGEMENT. I believe that we as a nation to be honest have broken covenant with God. Mary Elizabeth Williams said this in her salon.com article ‘So what if abortion ends life?‘, “I never wavered for a moment in the belief that I was carrying a human life inside of me. I believe that’s what a fetus is: a human life. And that doesn’t make me one iota less solidly pro-choice.” I’m just sitting here thinking “WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH YOU?!?!”.
The fact that we today will not readily admit that when we have abortions we are ending human life is sickening to me. We need to repent of our sins and turn back to the one true God.
